BIKE SAFETY, LEGAL USE & IMPORTANT INFORMATION

At Ghost Riders, rider safety and responsible use are extremely important to us.
The electric motorcycles, electric dirt bikes and other powered vehicles we supply can be high-performance machines capable of significant speed, acceleration and torque. They must be operated responsibly, maintained correctly and used only in locations where their use is permitted.
Please read the following information carefully before purchasing, assembling, modifying, charging or riding any vehicle purchased from Ghost Riders.
By purchasing a vehicle from Ghost Riders, you acknowledge that you are responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is suitable for your intended use and that it is operated in accordance with applicable laws, manufacturer instructions and appropriate safety precautions.
1. ROAD LEGALITY
Unless a product is expressly advertised by Ghost Riders as road legal, customers should not assume that it can legally be used on UK public roads.
Many high-performance electric dirt bikes and electric motorcycles do not meet the requirements applicable to electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPCs) and may instead be treated as motor vehicles under UK law.
Depending on the vehicle and its intended use, lawful use on a public road may require matters including vehicle approval, registration, insurance, vehicle tax, an appropriate driving licence, registration plates and approved protective equipment.
Requirements can vary according to the particular vehicle and circumstances.
It is the rider/owner's responsibility to establish whether their vehicle can legally be used on a public road and to satisfy all applicable legal requirements before doing so.
Ghost Riders does not authorise or encourage the unlawful use of any vehicle on public roads, pavements, footpaths, cycle lanes or other areas where its use is prohibited.
2. OFF-ROAD & PRIVATE-LAND USE
A vehicle being described or sold as an off-road bike does not mean it can legally be ridden anywhere off-road.
Unless otherwise legally permitted, off-road vehicles should only be operated on suitable private land with the permission of the landowner or other person authorised to grant permission.
Customers are responsible for determining whether riding is permitted at their chosen location.
Ghost Riders accepts no responsibility for fines, penalties, seizure of a vehicle or other consequences resulting from a customer's unlawful or unauthorised use of a vehicle, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
3. HIGH-PERFORMANCE VEHICLE WARNING
Electric motorcycles and dirt bikes can produce substantial torque immediately and may accelerate significantly faster than inexperienced riders expect.
Riding these vehicles involves inherent risks, including the possibility of:
- Loss of control
- Falls and collisions
- Serious personal injury
- Injury to other persons
- Damage to the vehicle
- Damage to other property
Customers should select a vehicle appropriate for the rider's age, size, ability and experience.
Never operate a vehicle beyond your ability or in conditions in which you cannot safely maintain control.
4. RIDER RESPONSIBILITY
The rider is responsible for operating the vehicle safely, responsibly and lawfully.
Before riding, you should familiarise yourself with the vehicle's controls, braking characteristics, power delivery and manufacturer instructions.
New or inexperienced riders should practise in a safe and controlled environment before attempting higher speeds or more challenging terrain.
Never ride while under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs, medication that impairs your ability to operate the vehicle safely, or when otherwise unfit to ride.
5. CHILDREN & YOUNGER RIDERS
Some vehicles may be suitable for younger riders, but suitability depends on factors including the particular model, rider size, experience, maturity and riding environment.
Where a vehicle is being used by a child or young person, an appropriate responsible adult should assess its suitability and provide suitable supervision.
Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that younger riders understand how to operate the vehicle safely and that appropriate protective equipment is worn.
Adult supervision does not make an unsuitable vehicle suitable for a child.
6. PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Ghost Riders strongly recommends appropriate protective equipment whenever operating an electric dirt bike or motorcycle.
Depending on the vehicle and type of riding, this may include:
- An appropriate motorcycle or motocross helmet
- Eye protection or goggles
- Motorcycle/motocross gloves
- Protective riding boots
- Long trousers and suitable riding clothing
- Knee and elbow protection
- Body armour or chest/back protection
Protective equipment cannot eliminate all risks, but appropriate equipment may substantially reduce the severity of injuries.
7. ASSEMBLY & SETUP
Some bikes supplied by Ghost Riders may require final assembly or adjustment following delivery.
Depending on the model and delivery method, this can include fitting or adjusting components such as handlebars, controls, front wheels, pedals/foot controls or other items positioned or removed for transportation.
Assembly must be carried out correctly.
If you do not have the knowledge, tools or experience required to assemble and check the vehicle safely, we strongly recommend using a suitably competent person or qualified technician.
Ghost Riders is not responsible for damage or faults caused by incorrect assembly, installation or adjustment by the customer or a third party, subject always to your statutory rights.
8. FULLY BUILT DELIVERY
Where Ghost Riders provides a Fully Built Delivery service, the bike will be assembled and checked prior to delivery.
Transportation can nevertheless affect adjustment or component positioning.
Customers must therefore still carry out appropriate pre-ride checks before using the vehicle.
No vehicle should be ridden if anything appears loose, damaged, incorrectly adjusted or unsafe.
9. PRE-RIDE SAFETY CHECKS
The rider should carry out appropriate safety checks before every ride.
Depending on the vehicle, these should include checking:
- Brakes operate correctly
- Tyres are correctly inflated and undamaged
- Wheels and axles are secure
- Handlebars and controls are secure
- Throttle operation is normal
- Chain or belt condition and tension
- Suspension
- Footrests and pedals where applicable
- Battery security
- Electrical connections
- Safety-critical fasteners
- Any visible signs of damage or excessive wear
If anything appears abnormal or unsafe, do not ride the vehicle until the issue has been properly inspected and corrected.
10. MAINTENANCE
Electric motorcycles and dirt bikes require regular inspection and maintenance.
Maintenance requirements vary by manufacturer and model.
Customers are responsible for following the manufacturer's maintenance schedule and ensuring worn or damaged components are replaced when required.
Failure to maintain a vehicle correctly can reduce performance, cause premature component failure and create a safety risk.
Where appropriate, maintenance should be carried out by a suitably qualified or competent technician.
11. MODIFICATIONS & PERFORMANCE UPGRADES
Modifying a vehicle can significantly change its handling, speed, acceleration, braking requirements, reliability and legal classification.
Examples include changes to:
- Controllers
- Batteries
- Motors
- Firmware/software
- Speed restrictions
- Gearing
- Brakes
- Suspension
- Wheels and tyres
- Electrical systems
Customers are responsible for ensuring modifications are safe, compatible and lawful.
Unauthorised or inappropriate modifications may affect manufacturer warranties and may make a vehicle unsuitable or unlawful for its previous use.
Ghost Riders cannot accept responsibility for damage or failures caused by incompatible, incorrectly installed or unauthorised modifications supplied or fitted by another party, subject to applicable consumer law.
12. BATTERY & CHARGING SAFETY
Lithium-ion batteries store significant amounts of energy and must be treated carefully.
Always follow the manufacturer's charging, storage and maintenance instructions.
You should:
- Use the correct manufacturer-approved or otherwise compatible charger specified for the battery
- Inspect the battery and charger regularly
- Avoid charging a battery showing signs of damage, swelling, overheating or other abnormal behaviour
- Keep batteries away from excessive heat, flames and unsuitable environments
- Avoid modifying or opening battery packs
- Protect batteries from significant physical damage
- Follow manufacturer guidance regarding charging and storage temperatures
Do not use or charge a battery that appears seriously damaged or behaves abnormally.
If you have concerns about a battery supplied by Ghost Riders, stop using it and contact us for advice.
13. WATER & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Water resistance varies between manufacturers and models.
Do not assume that an electric bike, battery, motor, controller or display is waterproof unless specifically stated by the manufacturer.
Avoid submerging electrical components and follow the manufacturer's recommendations regarding rain, washing, water crossings and storage.
Damage caused by inappropriate water exposure may not constitute a manufacturing defect.
14. RACING, STUNTS & EXTREME USE
Racing, jumping, stunt riding and extreme terrain place substantially greater loads on a vehicle and significantly increase the risk of injury and component damage.
A product's performance capability should not be interpreted as a recommendation to operate it beyond safe limits.
Customers undertaking motorsport, competition or extreme riding are responsible for ensuring their vehicle, equipment, skill level and riding environment are appropriate.
Warranty coverage may differ where damage results from competition, accidents, abuse or use outside the manufacturer's intended operating conditions.
15. ACCIDENTS, MISUSE & CUSTOMER-CAUSED DAMAGE
Normal warranty and consumer protections should not be confused with damage caused after purchase.
Subject to applicable consumer law, Ghost Riders will not normally be responsible for damage resulting from circumstances such as:
- Accidents or collisions
- Incorrect assembly
- Improper maintenance
- Neglect
- Misuse or abuse
- Unauthorised modifications
- Incompatible aftermarket components
- Incorrect charging
- Customer or third-party installation errors
- Operation contrary to manufacturer instructions
This does not affect your rights where goods were faulty, unsafe, misdescribed or otherwise did not conform to your legal rights at the time required by law.
16. INSURANCE
Depending on the vehicle and where or how it is used, insurance may be legally required.
Even where insurance is not mandatory, customers may wish to consider suitable cover for theft, accidental damage and third-party liability.
It is the customer's responsibility to establish whether insurance is required and to obtain appropriate cover where necessary.
17. PRODUCT INFORMATION & SPECIFICATIONS
We make reasonable efforts to ensure product descriptions, photographs, specifications and other information displayed by Ghost Riders are accurate.
Manufacturers may update specifications, components, colours or designs between production runs.
Where a particular specification is essential to your purchasing decision, please contact Ghost Riders before ordering so that it can be confirmed.
Nothing in this section limits our responsibility to provide goods that conform to the contract and applicable consumer law.
18. DELIVERY DAMAGE
Customers should inspect their delivery and packaging as soon as reasonably possible after receiving their order.
If a bike or its packaging appears damaged in transit, please take photographs and contact Ghost Riders as soon as possible.
Where possible, retain the original packaging while the matter is investigated.

19. WARRANTY & CONSUMER RIGHTS
Manufacturer and/or Ghost Riders warranty arrangements may apply depending on the product.
Warranty coverage does not normally extend to ordinary wear and tear or damage caused by misuse, accidents, inappropriate modifications, incorrect assembly or failure to maintain the vehicle correctly, subject to the particular warranty terms and applicable law.
Warranty terms are in addition to and do not replace your statutory consumer rights.

20. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Nothing in this policy or elsewhere on the Ghost Riders website is intended to exclude or restrict liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing in our terms is intended to exclude or restrict liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to applicable law, Ghost Riders is not responsible for losses or damage caused by the customer's unlawful use, misuse, incorrect assembly, inappropriate modification, neglect or failure to follow applicable manufacturer instructions and safety guidance where that loss or damage was not caused by a breach of duty by Ghost Riders.
PLEASE RIDE RESPONSIBLY
Electric motorcycles and dirt bikes can provide an incredible riding experience when operated responsibly.
Please:
- Ride within your ability.
- Wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Maintain your bike correctly.
- Respect other people and property.
- Only ride where you have the legal right and permission to do so.
